I do not find it right to have fun with someone’s belief at all. these guys do really great job and laugh on everything stupid that happens in our real lifes, and that’s funny. but for making this, i do not find it right. and it is not necessary to be extrimist muslim to watch south park

There actually was a southpark episode which made fun of passion of the christ which featured a scene where cartman marched through southpark with a lot of “passion” find chanting hitler hymns in German while all jewish people were freaking out. Being German myself, I swallowed hard a couple of times, because we dont tend to find those things very funny. Southpark does absolutely not discriminate and mainly actually targets American society but occasionally goes for others. So it is truly not personal. I guess if I felt that southpark is in any way against a particular religion or race, I d be very upset, but they are in their inimitable way very “fair”. No sacred cows for anyone.

Guys, there is a fine line between freedom of speech and insulting. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is highly revered by muslims and creating a *cartoon* of him is undesirable to us – creating a cartoon of any prophet is undesirable but a little more so in the case of the Holy Prophet.
If I were to create a cartoon of planes going into a tall building and then show people jumping off it and then dying painfully while making a fun of the whole situation, would you call that freedom of speech or stupidity?
If I said all founding fathers of the United States of America were retards – would you also consider that freedom of speech? Absolutely not.

@Deadhead, South Park is an American show and in America freedom of speech covers pretty much everything, ofcourse there may be consequences of what you say or express but that doesn’t mean they cant still do it. Under law, freedom of speech is exactly what it says, the freedom to say whatever you please. You have the right to complain but you can’t actually do anything about it because South Park generally don’t care who they insult.
Also, don’t try to compare the holocaust, an actual event which took the lives of an incredible amount of people against a religious figure who may or may not have been of some REAL significance.

Every example they make about what would be funny and under the freedom of speach is already made fun off in South Park, the Jews, Christians, founding fathers, Nazis and so on.

“synakal” has stated that South Park has made fun of everybody… but I still feel they’ve left out a major group of folks. I haven’t ever come across any episode where they make fun of any kind of pagan people. Now, coming from a guy who has been an active advocate and practicioner of Germanic Heathenry/Asatru/Odinism, I would LOVE to see South Park make fun of us. Making fun of things is a beautiful and hilarious thing to do, I’d love to see ‘em poke some fun at us!

I think the main point here isn’t who is offended and who isn’t. The point is threatening violence because of your belief. YOURS, not ours. Just cause YOU can’t show a picture of Moe, doesn’t mean we can’t. That’s forcing your belief through violence and intimidation. Muslims have a right to feel offended, but they don’t have a right to threaten with physical violence because of it. If we showed a obscene picture of any other religious figure people would be offended, but no one would stab the photographer. If we showed a obscene picture of moe…different story right? Hi everybody, after reading all these comments I felt a need to say a few things. First off I was gonna type the South Park disclaimer but I see Maso already did (thank you). Anyway let me put an emphasis on the end where it says SHOULD NOT BE VIEWED BY ANYONE. Simple as that the last few words of the disclaimer says everything you need.
Anyway for those of you who want to ignore the disclaimer then cry about the contents of the show, I don’t think you’re getting the point. It’s called comedy. Comedy is the whole point of South Park, why do you think it airs on COMEDY CENTRAL. Comedy can be very offensive and if you can’t handle it than don’t watch it, it’s meant for people who CAN handle it to get a good laugh.
To all those people saying that showing Muhammed is equivalent to the holocaust, rape and Jesus having sex with Mary in case you haven’t watched the episode they do not ever show Muhammed killing anyone, or having sex with anyone or doing anything that would be considered offensive. They have done some really mean things to other religions like pretty much call the Mormon religion dumb (All About The Mormons) and call Scientology a global scam (Trapped In The Closet) so why are you so angry about them saying that Muhammed can’t be ridiculed, because that’s pretty much what they’re saying in the episode, and all the celebrities want his power.
And to all the people who hate Muslims or are calling them stupid you have to understand that not all Muslims are the same. It’s the Muslim extremist that make other Muslims look bad. Just like judgemental Christians make other Christians look bad. These Muslims who are threatening Matt & Trey and are inflicting fear one people who don’t believe in the same thing as them are just making their people look bad.

Although he said something that you must have found very offenisve you don’t have to generalize and insult all the Scientologist. If I offended anyone then this is just my opinion, by the way I believe in God and Jesus although I belong to no specific religion and I’m not judgemental and I did not get offended by any of the time that South Park made fun of God or Jesus. I respect other peoples religions and beliefs and I understand that South Park can sometimes offend people who are very defensive of there beliefs but I find no need in threatening or insulting other people. If you want to be respected then you can start by respecting other people,and if they don’t respect you anyway than they’re not going to respect you anymore with threats or insutls.
I love South Park and am a huge fan and have never been seriously offended by anything. Although I rarely but sometimes disagree with what they say or do I try not to feel offended as everyone is entitled to there own opinion.

Religion at its core is a belief system that teaches us how to live good lives free of moral evil. Things like the bible etc, are more stories with a moral teaching than cold hard history/fact; advice to get you through tough times or if you feel lost.
Of course man couldn’t have this, so religion has been twisted into a weapon of hate with which we have an excuse to attack each other; twisting the words written long ago as advice into words by which to wage wars. Clearly, the world is not prepared nor responsible enough to have religion yet.
There is absolutely no need to get pent up and angry because a show like Southpark pokes fun at any religion. It’s entertainment, and obviously the writers are far more enlightened than the majority of the show’s viewers.
